The Hedgehog Walk - FAQs

What is The Hedgehog Walk?

The Hedgehog Walk is The Wildlife Trusts' annual fundraising challenge specially designed for little explorers, where we ask families, schools, clubs and learning groups to walk 3km between 31st March - 13th April and raise money for our vital work.

Where does The Hedgehog Walk take place?

You can do your Hedgehog Walk anywhere you like! The Hedgehog Walk is a virtual fundraising event, meaning that you are able to complete your challenge wherever you wish.

Why is this challenge called The Hedgehog Walk?

We named our challenge The Hedgehog Walk because we want you and your hoglets to walk 3km over two weeks and studies have shown that hedgehogs can walk up to 3km at night whilst foraging for food!

What if we don't have access to nature?

We encourage everyone to get out in nature if they can, however we understand that wild spaces aren’t accessible to everyone (just yet).

If you don’t have access to a wild space, you can complete your challenge wherever you can. You could:

  • Go for a walk through your local park, playing field or in your garden

  • Walk to school every day throughout Hedgehog Walk

If you want help or advice with finding local walking routes, you could:
