Take a Week on the Wild Side! 
 
Join Assistant Ranger Nicky Buckland for a fun family friendly guided walk across Chobham Common.
We will follow our self guided trail searching for insects, birds and reptiles along the way. 
We will also say hello to our grazing cattle and look at the important job they perform on this precious 
heathland. Please bring sun protection and refreshments.
 
Distance: 2 miles.
 
Meet at:Staple Hill car park, Staple Hill Road, Chobham.

Fun in the Forest!
 
This is your chance to spend the whole day in the woods with the Surrey Wildlife
Trust; we’ll be playing brilliant games, cooking yummy food on a camp fire that you have made 
yourself and creating things out of the fabulous trees in the wood. Suitable for children aged 7-11. 
Please note that car parking is limited at Pucks Oak Barn. Please leave two car parking spaces clear, 
next to the Cottage, to allow the residents access, and do not block the entrance/exit.

Furzefield Family Fun Day
 
Come down to Furzefield Wood in Merstham to celebrate the hard work which has been done by
local volunteers to open up the woodland. Families can take part in fun activities such as minibeast 
hunting, den building, traditional games and more. So why make a day of it, bring a picnic and explore
this amazing greenspace in the centre of Merstham which is composed of woodland and meadow! 
Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome, and dog owners must pick up after their dogs.
 
Meet at: Radstock Way OpenSpace, Radstock Way, Merstham, RH1 3NL.On street parking only
so walking or car sharing is recommended.

Bat Walk
 
Join our gentle amble along the Basingstoke Canal as darkness falls and find out all about these often
misunderstood creatures of the night! A chance to discover a whole new nocturnal world through 
the use of bat detectors which will help identify the species present and update our records.

Autumn at Bay Pond
 
Join us for an open day at Bay Pond Educational Nature Reserve in Godstone as part of the
‘Our Wetland Wildlife’ weekend. Fun for the whole family with activities including pond dipping, 
bug hunting, manned bird hide and woodland play sessions. SWT goods and refreshments will be 
on sale all day. Please note that hands must be washed after pond dipping and bug hunting and 
before eating. Well behaved dogs on leads are very welcome and dog owners must pick up after their dogs.
Meet at: Bay Pond Educational Nature Reserve, Godstone. Pedestrian access only, except for
disabled. Enter via Education Centre, sign posted from Godstone High Street.

A family evening for adults and children run by SWT Nower Wood in Leatherhead. Come to see
and hear the bats using a bat detector, with batty slides and a talk. Minimum age 7 years and 
under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear suitable clothing and bring a torch.

The best way of finding out is by finding their tracks! Join SWT Grazing Manager James Adler 
on Wisley Common and learn the signs and tracks of some of the best known British wildlife.

Join SWT this Halloween for some spooky fun during half term. There will be spooky crafts,
minibeast hunting and a walk with the Ranger to learn about the creatures of the woodland at night! 
Why not dress up in your scariest outfit too? (best outfit wins a prize). Squash and biscuits will be 
provided but why not bring a picnic or treat yourself to warming hot chocolate from the café?

environmental art you can produce using natural resources and round off the session with bonfire

Christmas at the Semaphore Tower
 
Father Christmas is back and taking time out from his very busy schedule to pay us another very
special visit. So why not come along and meet Father Christmas and his elves at the very top of the 
tower and receive a Christmas gift , then make some Christmas crafts, make a Christmas wreath 
from natural materials, take part in our fun Christmassy nature trail and listen to some festive 
Christmas carols. Hot drinks and mince pies will be available on the day to help warm you up
if the weather is cold. Please wear warm/wet weather clothing. Recommended for children aged 
4 – 8 years. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Dogs are welcome but are
