How to identify: Told by the long leaves with large teeth along the edge as well as the softly spiny fruit cases that contain two or three chestnuts.
Where: Widespread in south east England, sometimes planted elsewhere.
Fantastic fact: Roasted chestnuts are a traditional part of Christmas dinner, as well as being sold on the streets during the winter.
