A very common bumblebee, emerges early in the spring and can be seen feeding on flowers right through to the autumn. Found in gardens, farmland, woodland edges, hedgerows, heathland: anywhere there are flowers to feed on.

How to identify: A black and yellow banded bumblebee with a white 'tail'. There are several very similar species which can be very difficult to tell apart.
Fantastic fact: Bumblebee colonies are quite small, with about 200 workers in each.
