How to identify: Unmistakable: the only British bumblebee with an orange thorax and a white 'tail'.
Where: Only found in the south of the country at the moment, but spreading north, perhaps as a result of climate change.
Fantastic fact: First discovered in this country in 2001, this European species has rapidly colonised the south of England where it is now one of the commonest urban bumblebees. It has already reached the north of England and is likely to spread right through the country in the near future.
