About: The knopper gall is caused by a tiny gall wasp called Andricus quecuscalicis. It can be found on acorns, on oak trees. The wasp has a second generation which live in the buds of Turkey Oak.
How to identify: Unmistakeable, a weird nobbly bowl-shaped gall that grows on acorns.
Fantastic fact: The Knopper Gall Wasp first arrived in Britain in the 1960s and is now widespread.
