About: A medium-sized ladybird, about 4mm long. Usually red with two black spots on the wing cases, but also comes in a variety of other colour patterns right through to black with two red spots. Found in a wide variety of habitats, including towns and gardens. Eats aphids.
How to identify: The only likely confusion species is the 10-spot ladybird, which is a similar size and similarly variable. 2-spot ladybird has black legs, while 10-spot ladybird has orange legs.
Fantastic fact: Probably the common ladybird in Britain.
