About: A small warbler, about 12cm long. Wood Warblers are birds of oak woodland in the north and west of Britain. They are green above and bright white below, with a yellow throat and yellow eyebrow stripe. They sing from amongst the canopy, their warbling song
How to identify: Larger than the similar Willow Warbler and Chiffchaff, Wood Warbler has a bright yellow throat and chest with a clean white belly.
Where: A summer visitor to northern and western Britain
Fantastic fact: Wood Warbler is one of a group of summer visitors, together with Pied Flycatcher and Redstart, that are characteristic of sessile oak woodland in the west of Britain.
