About: A common bird of rocky beaches. Rock Pipit is a small, streaky dark greyish-brown bird. About 16cm long. Feeds on seeds and small invertebrates.
How to identify: Rock Pipits have blackish legs: Meadow Pipits have pale flesh-coloured legs.
Where: Found around rocky coasts. This small bird loves hopping around on rocks by the sea.
Fantastic fact: The closely related Water Pipit nests in the Alps and other European mountains, and is a rare winter visitor to marshland in southern England.
