About: Once a very rare bird only to be found in central Wales, the Red Kite has been successfully reintroduced to several areas of the UK and can now be seen in parts of Scotland, in Yorkshire, the East Midlands and the Chilterns. A large, graceful bird of prey
How to identify: A large bird of prey, with long wings with black wing-tips and pale patches in the 'hand', and a long, reddish, v-shaped tail.
Where: Now found in several parts of the country.
Fantastic fact: Red Kites were common in Shakespearean London, where they fed on scraps in the streets.
