About: A rather uncommon dabbling duck, only likely to be seen during the winter when small numbers may be found wherever ducks are common. Larger numbers gather on selected sheltered estuaries, such as the Wash and the Dee Estuary. Also found across North Ame
How to identify: Told by the long tail and graceful long neck.
Where: Mainly a winter visitor to coasts and estuaries. Small numbers nest, particularly in northern Scotland.
Fantastic fact: The oldest Pintail lived to 27 years of age! That's very old, for a duck.
